December - Event has been cancelled for 2021 Poplar Grove presents A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL and will be glistening with holiday spirit! The grounds of Poplar Grove will be specially lit and twinkling, a bonfire will be blazing for roasted marshmallows, food and gift vendors with something unique for those stockings, a Santa’s Workshop for those needing to post letters addressed to the North Pole, and maybe — if you’re lucky, you will catch a glimpse of Mr. or Mrs. Claus porch sitting. Families can also peek inside the Grinch’s Toy Junk Shop in the Blacksmith Studio. There will be backdrop screenings of “The Polar Express”, “A Christmas Story”, and "The Grinch That Stole Christmas". Bring your blankets and chairs, and plan to stay awhile! In addition to this specially lit outdoor experience, Candlelight Tours will be offered through the eight rooms of the Manor House for $15 a person. Each room will be lovingly decorated by theme and color, including natural flora and greenery inspired by the Foys’ Colonial through Victorian family history – with a few contemporary flourishes to echo the family’s four centuries in coastal North Carolina. Advanced tickets are required for candlelight tours and they include admission to the Festival. Don’t forget to shop local at the Arts, Crafts & Gift Show – a two-day shopping experience featuring over 90 local arts, crafts, and gift vendors on Saturday and Sunday, December 7th & 8th. The is fun for the entire family! The show will feature artists, crafters, bakers and gift vendors in an outdoor market setting, all present to supply seasonal tastes and gifts to compliment the season. Santa and Mrs. Clause will be listening to Christmas wishes under the gazebo, and the farm animals will be in their holiday regalia throughout the day and the kids can bounce on the inflatables. Admission is $7 and supports Poplar Grove's conservation, education and preservation efforts.
