October 22 - 23, 2021  For 50 years, the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival in Sneads Ferry, NC has been paying a tasty homage to the area’s local shrimping industry. Normally held on the second weekend in August, this year's festival has been postponed until October. The festival begins with a parade on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. at the corner of Old Folkstone and Peru roads, then winds through town and ends at Fulchers Landing Road. Gates open for the festival at 10 A.M. on Saturday, with events from open to close. Among all the vendors, beer and wine garden, live touch tank, games, rides and family-fun activities, famed events include: the shrimp heading contest, live music, Royalty Introductions for the festival, the famous Shrimparoo dinner, consisting of local, mouth-watering fried shrimp, french fries, cole slaw and hush puppies, and the beautiful fireworks display to end the evening on Saturday. There is a charge for festival admission, but children younger than 12 are admitted free of charge. A two-day pass is also available. There is also a charge for the Shrimparoo dinner and the carnival rides.
